I don't like this film, for many reasons, and the primary one is unnecessary changes to the Frank Herbert story. It will be a success because most people just don't care about details...
Example of a detail: The imperium does not have anti-gravity devices. If they did, the ornithopters would be obsolete, unnecessary. Ships are supposed to land using thrusters. Atmospheric vehicles are either fixed wing aircraft or thopter. Nothing floats in the air. If they did the mobile spice factories would also float into the air and Frank Herbert's story would also float away.
Alicia the knife (Lady Jessica's baby) needed to born. Without her birth, it means Paul is only 15 years old and too young to be accepted as a leader, by the Fremen. Alicia is supposed to be about 4 years old at the end of the story, making Paul about 19. Remember a 15 year-old boy+romance = unbelievable romance.
The ending is also not as powerful as the book. It's because of the changes, the story fizzles out and loses it punch.
All these people need to be ashamed of themselves for making these kinds of massive changes. It's like changing the end of the Lord of the Ring, having Gollum bite off Frodo's finger and then getting away from everyone, including Sauron, without explaining how he managed to pull off that feat. Oh I forgot, they don't care about the story, they only care about how much $ money $ they can make!
