A truly sensational and remarkable book that will stay with you. An absolute must read! The show absolutely stunk. Where to start? The comically terrible writing stymies any emotional engagement, the plot and motivations of the characters are vastly different from the book (ex: Werner aspired to join the Nazis in the book as he, like many others, did not comprehend their true goals), the accents are hilariously terrible (ex: Mark Ruffalo), it’s littered with cliches (ex:make a great speech while dying, and die exactly after it ends), and the characters are so one-dimensional its laughable. Quite possible the worst screen adaption I’ve seen. Was genuinely looking forward to it, but its just so disappointing.
