Honestly one of the best jrpgs I've ever played to this day. You play as Ashley Riot, a risk breaker tasked with heading to the mystical town of le'monde to investigate a cult. The atmosphere of le'monde is enchanting and is still one of the best video game settings I've played in. The art style is stunning, really looks like a graphic novel brought to life. The music and sound effects are also incredible, it is set in the same world as final fantasy 12 and shares a lot of sound and place design. The combat system is also unique and fun. Depending on what weapon you have equipped you will have a different targeting reticule which changes shape and range. What ensues is a brilliantly well thought out system where what you have equipped is almost as important as how you chooses to fight. Add in spells, weapon arts, items and an amazingly in depth crafting system and vagrant story is still one of my favorite games in 2021. Here's hoping for a remake!! 5 stars *****
