I had a lot of hope for this game. I have loved every Assassin's Creed game and Odyssey was one of my favorites. I have put about 30 hours into Valhalla and the only way I can honestly describe it is bad. I waited almost a year to get this game because I wanted to play it on the next gen console. Almost a year later the game is still riddled with bugs which is amazing. Maybe if Ubisoft had spent more time developing the actual game rather than the in game store the game wouldn't be so terrible. The story is uninteresting, the combat has gotten worse from odyssey, the armor and weapon selection is absolute garbage because all the good equipment is locked behind a paywall, I could keep going but this game has wasted enough of my time at this point. Do yourself a favor and don't buy it. Update: So apparently the games save files can become corrupted which causes all kinds of in game issues, like crashing, freezing, etc. This just happened to me and there is no uncorrupted file to load and the game hardly works anymore, it is freezing constantly while exploring the world. I guess I'm done even trying with this game, after 30+ hours in I'm not restarting... I'm updating this review again because I was able to correct the save file issue somehow. I have no idea how but it suddenly quit saying it was corrupted, however the game still freezes quite often for a few seconds then keeps going (probably once every 10 minutes or so). I tried to keep playing but every time I start to enjoy the game something breaks. Whether it be NPCs not helping to open a chest while raiding meaning you have to reload the game, the abhorrent parkour that has somehow gotten worse from Odyssey, the horrible audio mixing that causes muffled sound, the canned movements of NPCs during cutscenes that make no sense and completely break immersion. The list of issues with this game is amazing and I don't understand why because Origins and Odyssey worked fine. The only reason I'm even taking the time to leave such a long review is because I feel betrayed that I spent $100 on this garbage and I have no choice to return it. After this game I doubt I will ever buy another Assassin's Creed title.

This game is horrible, it's unplayable. I'm so glad I didn't pay for this game, it's on ps plus which I got a year of with my ps5 purchase. If you're thinking about buying this game, save your money, don't waste it on this garbage.
