I could quibble with certain aspects of this film but why bother when overall it just leaves you overwhelmed with a feeling of how challenging life could be for anyone in the west during the latter 1800s. There is really some excellent acting especially Rosamund but also some of the "lesser" characters. There is lots of sadness but it left me with some hope too. What I like about movies is when they can move me deeply. This one does that!
