Okay, first off, this album is like, what is it, eight years old? Yeah. Sounds about right. ANYWAYS, this album is absolutely incredible. The Other Side of Paradise was the first Glass Animals song I’d heard (save Heatwaves, because it’s impossible to not hear that), and I love every song from this album. Here’s my ranking: Pork Soda, Cane Shuga, Take a Slice, The Other Side of Paradise, Life Itself, Season 2 Episode 3, Mama’s Gun, Youth, Poplar St., and Premade Sandwiches. Somehow EVERY song in this album has a different feel to it, and I’m positively obsessed. I’d give anything to hear The Other Side of Paradise blasted through those max-bass coach bus speakers again. This album has such an interesting fluctuation of emotion, songs ranging from pure fever dream (Pork Soda), to a mix of unnerving and beautiful orchestral sounds (Mama’s Gun), to the, um, the-the… the… sound of Premade Sandwiches. I guess (?).
Anyways, I recommend listening to this album, then after finding out which songs you love the most, listen to the ones that didn’t catch your eye before. Glass Animals is one of those bands where you hear one of their songs, say; “Oh, okay. That’s pretty mid.” Then replay it 48 hours later and fall in love (this happened to me with Pork Soda, Cane Shuga, Life Itself, pretty much every song).
Whoops I wrote a little too much.
I guess there just simply isn’t enough space to convey how breathtaking and beautiful this album is.
Thanks for reading all this lol-
