Here is the plot:
A director secures 60 million to produce a zombie movie. He spends 59.9 million on drugs, then struggles with understanding the nature of reality during filming.
What is the soundtrack about here? At times it seemed to be some form of indi music, but other times it was just someone chanting something that was impossible to make out. And it all goes on for a really long time, like I am supposed to understand and be affected by it in some way.
At one point, I thought, maybe this is just several writers trying to all write something together, and that's why there is no consistency or significance to anything whatsoever. But with more eyes, why all the mistakes?
I tried to understand it as highly symbolic, but I couldn't really make that make sense either. Was it intentionally vapid? Is this a new horror movie trope? I hope not.
The best part of the movie was the killshot cam. The rest of it was completely unpredictable and unclear. I literally had no idea what the characters were going to do next. Not because the writing was novel, but because it was incoherent. Mom can't remember anything, but then is totally fine for a while. Why she is sweating and screaming on a bed like she is possessed isn't clear. Did they want us to wonder if she was infected? My guess is that the planning wasn't that sophisticated.
I thought maybe it wasn't finished. But then, some scenes have inner inconsistency as well. Even in the first scenes of the film, we are shown a child who watches his father being eaten by zombies and his 6 or 7 year-old reaction is to cite scripture.
My suggestion is to back your labour unions. I doubt they would have let this leave Britain and infect the rest of the world. There truly is a difference between profit and value and this film right here is a prime example.
