Son of Jeddah

I just came back from the theater. This is the Superman I grew up with. The one from comics, from Super Friends, from Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League Animated series, My Adventures with Superman, from Donner’s Superman 1978. Perfect casting, full family entertainment.

David Harbour was badly utilized Every scene I recall in the first half of the movie where the story is picking up pace gets immediately watered down with the presence of the Red Guardian Without those unnecessary cringe comedy scenes, this movie was a straight 9 but in this case, I’ll give it a 7

The movie echoes the storytelling of Steve Englehart, Bill Mantlo, and Mark Gruenwald, but with Thunderbolt Ross and Sam Wilson in the roles typically held by Bruce Banner and Steve Rogers. It blends Action, Thriller, Suspense, and Adventure, serving as a direct successor to both The Incredible Hulk and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Despite undergoing four reshoots, the cast delivered a commendable performance, focusing on pure entertainment without the distraction of cheesy puns or overt virtue signaling. Like Iron Man (2008), this film lays the groundwork for the next decade of the MCU, paving the way for the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men.
