Yet another horrendous reboot where the only improvement is the art style and Penny's friend group. I find each episode to be a random string of thoughts all mashed together with barely any resolution. An example of this is when Penny gets on Crab Barrel (their version of Shark Tank). When the hosts ask how old she is, before she can answer, her uncle starts singing a song about how he loves gas station nachos.
The father is always up to some sort of business venture that involves him getting into legal trouble or physical danger. Also, he interacts and argues with a monkey in every episode??? They bring in Uncle Bobby as a recurring character who solely interacts in song form and I find this incredibly annoying and distracting. Her mom is practically shelved in terms of character interactions. Sugar Mama constantly insults Oscar and shows favoritism toward Bobby and I'm not sure what the point of that is. Interactions between Penny and her friends were the bright side of the episodes I watched and I almost wonder if that was intentional. Problem is, if the goal is to showcase what teenagers can do and promote teens being happy with who they're becoming then...why focus on the adults in the story at all? Why not have them be occasional support characters instead of this garbled mess?
The show had potential to be a lot better but in my opinion, they squandered it
