Punjabi da fundu idea, donโt worry, be happy!
Punjabi movies are coming of age. Overtly romantic jingoism or action is passรฉ. And the new kid on the box is Afsar, the movie with an uncomplicated difference. Itโs just designed to bring the smooth flowing smile on your face. Itโs simply different, with a no non-sense โnon-senseโ giggle.
Set in the rural hinterland of Srihand, Afsar is about Jaspal who just couldnโt get his heart and head straight. With a much-sought after sarkari job in his pocket, he ends up literally falling in love with the next village neighborhood girl, Harman. Nothing fancy but just a song is all that it takes, nah!
And rural minds are fixated on many things. And this is where Afsar feebly tries to break the mindset of the โnew-age STD booth-eraโ rustic folks. The girlโs father believes a village Patwari is the end of power in the sarkari set up and mistakenly rejects Jaspal as the groom for Harman. Heart-broken Jaspal desperately chases his love, giving the up the โhigh post of Kanugoโ. Rest is all amusing which is enough to keep you smiling at your partner in crime.
If you are looking for slapstick comedy, there is none. Its the joy we find in living everyday, the simple things, and how we take each day. Thatโs the fatal attraction here. Making you forget banal worries, Afsar is a delight even if you donโt understand Punjabi. Though itโs a little less about acting or cinematic brilliance, but the cry of laughter keeps buzzing. If looking for lighthearted fun, Afsar is the way to go.
