This dark but seemingly brutally honest movie starts off slow on a hot summer day in Oklahoma, but gradually picks up a steady speed until it slows down again at the end, for all the right reasons. I thought that the characters all had their own unique story that led me to want to know more about each and every one of them. I think each one of them had a comical side to them, but also had a closet with many secrets. The cast is stellar and the acting was superb! Of course, Meryl Streep and Julie Roberts both earned well deserved Oscar nominations for the film. John Wells is amazing! This is one of my all-time favorite dramas. Like Julia Roberts said in the movie, “This is the planes”. That kind of sums up the weather of the film, hot and temperamental!

I thought the movie told the story well. They could have been more character development, but that would have made for a much longer movie that would potentially stray away from the core subject of the film. I thought Pamela Anderson was a delight.
