I'm sorry but this is by far one of my LEAST FAVOURITE and least creative graphic novels I've read. I'm gonna start of with things I like and slowly move forward towards the bad. DISCLAIMER I DO NOT HATE THIS BOOK I AM JUST GIVING MY CRITISMS
The good:
I really liked the beginning and how it established the characters. However I had a hard time identifying who the protagonist was but that was only for a few pages.
I like the art and the character expressions.
I like Mady and find her relatable on a few levels.
I kind of find Dany relatable at times (but I also find her somewhat unlikable)
Cara was likable (at least she was before the author decided to ruin her because what's a main character without a little bullying)
I like Aleesha, Mady and Tom
Sad Death was funny as a Easter egg for an emo band
I love the plot in the second book (but the plot in the first book was pathetic and lackluster)
I actually relate to Dany's fictional crushes (embarrassing but true)
The bad:
I find the characters and events unrealistic (usually what the characters say or do)
In the second book I find it a lazy excuse to make Cara the villain, in the first book she had no indication she'd be this mean and she's just completely out of character (this might be unfair since I'm reviewing the first book, not the second)
Prince Neptune is wasted potential and super lame.
Prince Neptune and Dany's kiss felt like it was pedophilia based off how old Prince Neptune looked
Prince Neptune is a predictable and boring villain
The kiss was pointless and was just showing off how the author loves romance or thinks it's cute based off how she probably had an anime crush like that but really it's one of the must disguising things ever
It was a really good book at first but turned into some high action fantasy adventure
Dany doesn't really deserve the book and is easily way too overpowered
Dany looks completely different in one scene than the next, you can tell it was done by more than one artists based off how inconsistent it was
I don't like the fact she has a crush on Tom. The main character and their friend who's always the opposite gender gets together or has a crush on each other, it's boring, predictable and unoriginal
They gave us so much time being expected to hate Nick that I actually feel kinda bad for him instead.
I find second book better in a lot of ways
The idea and concept is totally predictable, lackluster, average and doesn't really do anything new or creative
The book LACKS CREATIVITY
Overall
the book's not awful I mean an eight-year old can simply enjoy it
but it just lacks effort in the writing, characters, story and the plot
