Oh man…maybe it’s because I’m a millennial who loved the originals…or maybe it’s because this movie was just SO badly done - but enough already. Please put the Jurassic movies to rest. Now you’re just torturing them and all of us. The acting? What was that?! There were some good actors in this film, so I feel like it was the directing? But honestly…we laughed so hard because it was so badly done. The John Williams scores will always be iconic but they weren’t written to prop up a poorly made movie. Also…the same scenes over and over - there used to be this thing where sequels would borrow a single moment from a previous film like a tip of the hat - but now it’s more of a regurgitation. This movie had weird vibes that were somewhere between the 2005 adaptation of King Kong and Jungle Cruise. Honestly, real storytelling needs to come back - special effects cannot hold up an entire film if there is simply no story left to tell. For us, we are so glad we didn’t waste the minimum $50 we would have had to shell out at the theatre these days. If you decide to rent it - do yourself a favour and expect nothing. Then you can’t be disappointed. We were entertained by it as a flop - like a cheesy shark movie.
