Naruto is the first and my favourite anime because the story line, the rollercoaster of emotions,comedy,etc. If you are scared by seeing 720 episodes (including shippuden), you have guides in youtube to watch it Naruto(classic) might be a lag because of the fillers and all, but it is the character building arc, which means by seeing this you will get a special bond with the characters , which inturn helps you to enjoy the series If you watch Naruto(classic) clearly you will enjoy the shippuden series.
