Overall 6.7/10. Simply put, it was just okay. Thereโs absolutely no reason this movie should be near the 8s or even the 7s. The plot was scattered and there was little to no meaningful character development. At least the acting was solid. But the entire film felt just LAZY.
There was a lot of wasted potential. Example: They should have added a scene where they actually went after the daughter! Imagine the drama of them knocking on her door, the tension of whether she lets them in... Instead, what did we get? Nearly an hour of screen time in a barn. It got to the point where I genuinely wasnโt sure if I was watching a thriller or a comedy. I guess it was both... but even as I'm writing this I'm still not sure.
Also, Irish vampires? The dancing? I mean ehhhh (cringe emoji). Just not my cup of tea. They attempted to explain the vampire LORE, but just never committed. Donโt just talk about the backstoryโshow us. A few short scenes could've gone a long way in grounding the narrative. But again, it all came off as rushed and underdeveloped.
With that being said, I thought the acting was pretty good, and the whole concept had promise. But in the end, the movie felt like your typical modern Hollywood productโ$90 million spent mostly on CGI, overpriced actors, and a script that needed several more rewrites.
My advice? Wait until it's on Netflix. Not worth going to the theaters to see. Sorry.
