Do you like GOT? Do you like LOTR? Do you like ACOTAR? How about a mashup of all your favorite tropes? Then I have the book for you!!! When I first picked it up, I felt like the characters and situations were almost laughably close to GOT/LOTR (there’s a mother of dragons and a fire priestess and scaling of an intrepid wall and the spice is VERY Rhys/Feyre coded). But the more I read, the more the author seems to settle into her own voice, and the later chapters have some beautiful, poetic scenes and descriptions. I also realized that since I loved GOT/LOTR, this was just another opportunity to enjoy them again! Plus, the protective MMC is my go to, and Cayden is no exception. I loved this book because it was so easy on my brain. It’s like a fanfic of all my favorite things! I can’t wait for the next one. Pro-tip: listen to the audiobook by Hannah Van Der Westhuzen(sp?), you won’t regret it!
