Ugh where to begin? I should’ve listened to the low star reviews. I saw the show at the Museum of Science and History in Forth Worth and it was underwhelming at the very least. I paid for VIP tickets thinking my husband and I (both in our 30’s) would get special seating but no, it’s the same seating as everyone else, you just get to select your seat if you show up early enough (they don’t tell you this up front so I felt scammed.)
The whole thing felt like a trap, I fell for the marketing about this immersive journey through space that is always sold out so I HAD to see it, but the show itself felt more like a projection of random kaleidoscopic images with no storyline, 5 mins in and I already wanted it to be over. My husband’s first comment after the show: “they should make a 15 min version”
I wouldn’t feel so compelled to write this review if it wasn’t for the fact that we spent all this money (babysitter $150, VIP tickets $115) for a boring low-quality experience that left us with a neck ache. I’ve seen WAY better immersive type shows produced by the museums themselves for a third of the price.
To wrap up this review, I want to clarify that the reason I disregarded the bad reviews was that I absolutely LOVE immersive and 3D experiences, especially Space themed ones, and I thought the people complaining perhaps didn’t appreciate those types of shows as much, WRONG. I agree with the reviews that mention how the “show” felt like an egocentric project. There’s also a disconnect between the voiceover, the music and the images, I didn’t come here to meditate, why are you asking me to do so? Plus, the crazy low budget imagery is not making it easy on me.
Skip this and save your money and time. One star for effort, another star because the staff was nice.
