My score: 90/100, far from perfect but still satisfying, enjoyable, and well worth the wait for the fans. Overall the same plot, but done much MUCH better. Like it or not, the Snyder Cut will probably be studied by film majors in the future, to show how much of a difference a director and their creative vision can make when shooting a film.
Key Takeaways:
- Cyborg. The heart and soul that was missing in the 2017 version. Better development of his character, and more defined relationship between. Him, Silas, and the Motherboxes.
- WW and the Amazons. Cooler fight scenes and goes to show that Diana isn't a strong character because she's a woman, but because she just is.
- Flash. Less cringey jokes, but still remains the comic relief, just less "in your face." There's also better exploration with his abilities, making him not as useless as the theatrical cut.
- Aquaman. Not as present as the others, but has a better build up to his solo film.
- Bruce Wayne (not Batman). Overall gratifying redemption from BvS.
- Steppenwolf. Bigger. Badder.
- Music score. The difference is day and night. Junkie XL does a much better job with conveyance, especially with the return of Han Zimmer's MoS score.
- Epilogue. While the film does conclude with the good guys winning, there's more to be desired as it also sets up (more than one) future plots that follow the events of this movie. It's a constant reminder of how WB failed to deliver this version back in 2017, and how we may never get to see a follow up/conclusion to what Zack Snyder had set up in his version of the DCEU.
