I watched this show during it's original telecast and now again when my Mom is rewatching it. Now I am realising how different and progressive this show is compared to most TV serial. I will say far more progressive.
Instead of the traditional sati-savitri versus modern vamp it adds layers to each character. Everyone in the show has his/her own share of mistakes and misunderstandings. No one is the forever negative character.
The show also represents a lot of patriarchal mindset related problems quite well. Anjali being forced by her husband, Jyoti being abused by her husband, Shlok having sexist thinking in starting due to personal experiences, Niranjan showing remorse for his abusive behaviour, everything just seems natural.
It also handles topics like divorce and a divorcee choosing a better husband and fighting against the abusive spouse.
It doesn't feel that they are bringing unnecessary twists again and again but rather showing life of an average person.
And the acting in the show is also a huge plus point. The actors really did their best.
A gem of a Indian TV serial and a must watch for Indian TV serial lovers.
