Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar. That was a stunning portrayal of the journey between man & Joker. No cartoony feel good nonsense here. Dark, gritty, serious. Very impressed at the delivery of the mental illness Joker was born from & the role society played in shaping him. The violence was brutal & felt like it could happen, not be drawn in a comic. Not a movie for someone expecting a super hero/villian movie. This one ranks high, high up there on impact it left on me personally leaving the theater. I'll say it one more time, Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar for his performance as Joker.
