While I've seen many war movies,it's never a good idea to compare them. It's best to take each alone or one is judged better and another somewhat lacking. I really liked this movie. It's based on a true story, which I prefer no matter the topic. While slow in places and disjointed in others it drew me in and I felt the whole gambit of emotions, excitement, love, shock, horror, sadness, anger, desperation and forgiveness. All the actors did amazing work, and I enjoyed the music. The cinematography was wonderful and I'd like to see it for real. PTSD is real and this was depicted well. I have no hesitation in recommending this movie.
