I watched the movie yesterday. Was very excited for Ramayan on big screen. But the excitement didn't last long as the movie is a failure in almost every aspect of a film. I see people have already said how bad the dialogs and VFX are, so I will not talk about those. I really wanted to say something good about the movie but it really has no such thing. The story is moulded to whatever the director wanted without thinking about Ramayan. I think one of the sad thing is they didn't researched well for movie. Some of the scenes are there for no reason like ..... Spoilers.... -->Ravana is shown taking a massage from snakes. Dude what the hell. Come on. -->Meghnath a very strong and fearsome warrior is just someone who runs fast in Adipurush. Seeing him fight felt like watching a low budget Flash. Also he has tattoos all over his body which is highly unlikely and vulgar. -->The Kumbhkaran's fight has no meaning. He just comes and dies that's all. -->There is no golden Lanka. Only a black castle that's spread throughout the land. -->The lighting in Lanka's scenes are very dim. It feels like Lanka is surrounded by a mist of dark clouds throughout the movie. The acting is another part which ties the audience to movie. But the acting is less than mediocre. Pravas doesn't look or act like Ram nor does any of them as a matter of fact. The only one with some decent acting is Saif Ali Khan's Ravaan. But as the movie progressed, due to weird direction and confusing scenes, it went from okay to bad. I feel like the director didn't search enough for this epic nor does the actors. Playing Rama is not easy at all. See Arun Govil in Ramanand Sagar ji's Ramayan. That man did it justice. And I think the directors thought how tough can it be. You just need someone who can smile. Hell no its much more than that and Pravas isn't able to capture Rama's essence even for a tiny bit. They just thought that he alredy did Bahubali, so just take him and it will all work out. God it was a disaster. If you are someone who watched Arun Govil's Ramayan and expect to believe it will be somewhat like it you will be highly dissapointed. I will not suggest to watch this movie. It's better to wait for the OTT release. The first half will go by anyway. The first part is okay and you will expect they will do justice to later important parts or something like the first part. But boy I was wrong. They butchered the movie after interval. At some point I was sleeping. Yes that's right I was sleeping during the final fight scene of the Ramayan. I think after the 'Sita Haran' act, the movie gets progressively bad. Overall if you wish to see a movie on Ramayan, I suggest the japanese movie made in 1992: Ramayan- The epic of prince Ram. The directors are from a different country but did justice to Ramayan and proved that something so big as Ramayan can be made into a movie. Or any other Ramayan serial. Just rewatch Ramanad Sagar ji's Ramayan again. It's was a gem when released, it's still a gem after all these years. Nothing comes close to it.
