Even poems like Spring Offensive would not prepare you for raw grief and helplessness our female protagonist was feeling throughout the novel.I loved the book.I can not say I care much for the male protagonist Alex. Though it seems that Jo ( the female protagonist) is clearly in love with him but I think he is cruel, selfish and whimsical and he takes advantage of the fact that our female protagonist is lonely and devoid of human interaction..loved the book.Kudos Simone St. James...I loved another book of her - The Other Side of Midnight..
