I was so super excited to see a new version of The Witches!!!! I remember being a scared 5 year old watching the original 1990 movie, but I love it, because let's face it, kids love to be scared. I love everything about this story and Roald Dahl had created such a beautiful and creepy story, but the relationship between the grandmother and the grandson is so touching, because we all have a grandparent, that we have a special bond with. When I heard that they were going to do a new version of The Witches, I actually thought " yeah I love to see how they would make the movie in today's world" and then I heard that Robert Zemeckis would directing and with Anne Hathaway, I was completely down for this remake. And I had also heard the the film will stay true to the Roald Dahl's book. Now here's my issue for this film, I hate when director's say that the film will stay true to the book, and then when you watch the film, you are immediately disappointed and when I was watching this film, I thought this had not stayed to the story, honestly everything was changed from the story such as the location, events, the design of the Witches hands ( which the hands were so offensive ) and mainly the grand High witch's true form is this ugly, terrifying creature, wearing a disguise of a woman's mask, and the main thing in this story was that scene when we see the grand High witch's removing her mask, but no not in this film. The only thing that they true to the book was the ending. If Roald Dahl was alive and had seen this movie, i bet he would be so disappointed and normally Roald Dahl's widow will do like a promotion and talk about the movie, but we didn't here from her, so I gathered that his family were also disappointed about this movie. I'm so angry with the CGI in this film, it was just awful. I'm sorry to all the people who worked really hard on this film, but it just didn't work as the original Roald Dahl story. And next time when director's say they are gonna stay true to the books, which means they going to change anything of the story and make some money out of it. And one thing the grand High witch's wigs in the near the end was awful, like I'm sorry but the first wig was great, should of had that wig in every scenes for the grand High witch. Anyway that's my thoughts on this movie.
