Sometimes I read reviews and feel like there is no way I could have read the same book as this person who is posting a review. Someone reviewed this book and said “… I cried, I laughed…”. Seriously there is absolutely no laughter in this book.
For me, having spent my childhood and teenage years in north texas, the description of dust storms and sand everywhere were correct. The story of life there during the Great Depression rings absolutely true.
I did not find anything but sorrow, dark and heavy, unrelenting sorrow in this book. Read this story if that is what you need right now.
