Perry Smith

Despite some ennui during the first episode, I really came to enjoy the film. I guess I'm slow, but I required the explanation toward the end to understand what had happened earlier in the film. But, the acting is good, the plot challenging, and I figured it was time well spent. For a piece of entertainment, I don't ask anything more.

I remember living through the days of Mrs. Schlafly's rise as a far right-wing conservative political force. What the series left out was her dismal end as an anti-gay hate-snorting bigot. Nonetheless, the acting was top-notch, with special praise for the ever-amazing Margo Martindale as Bella Abzug. She never fails to impress and steal every scene in which she appears.
