The show sacrifices too much from the book for the sake of more compact storytelling. It's a rush job and it feels like the writers didn't even read the book or take inspiration from its Chinese counterpart that was released some years ago with a much more compelling story, just regurgitated key parts of the story .The whole concept of the VR game was another thing I couldnt really agree with, considering that they cut out a lot of the scientific process that actually goes into making their theories pan out. Almost no investigation of the sudden death of the scientists apart from the first couple of episodes and the fundamentalists that agree with the trisolarans plight for seeking a better home. All in all a disappointment imo.
