David Mitchell has definitely moved into national treasure status. Everything he does is brilliant including this clever, smartly scripted and unusual detective series slash comedy.

Series one started out well and then lost believability as it progressed. I thought I’d give series two a chance but it was pretty ridiculous from the start.

Renovations are so slow it’s like watching paint dry, except there’s no painting going on.

Feels very dated. White guys go into Africa to rescue grateful Black people. The usual “white saviourism” trope set with a backdrop of unrelenting violence.
