Honestly. Twilight princess is my favourite Zelda. But breath of the wild cuts it close. Puzzle solving for all the shrines are not linear. You can solve them anyway you want which I find absolutely fascinating. Don’t wanna go through an entire shrine? Just windbomb it! Wanna see what is behind Hyrule boarders? Clip through the ground!!!. The weapons breaking system is genius. Makes you hunt down stronger enemies to obtain stronger more durable weapons. Having a full stocked inventory of Lynel weapons from swords, shields and bows, is just fantastic. You can find a weird guy named Kilton who gives you masks, and creepy attire. And these masks help you blend in with monsters like Bokoblins, Moblins and Lizalfos. The Lynels are too smart for masks. There is so many distractions. The Hinox is a giant-monster like cyclops, they are scattered across Hyrule, which you can obtain weapons from its necklace (one word…..Eventide Island). The game introduces you to a mysterious warlike tribe called the Zonai from the Faron region that disappeared (tears of the kingdom will be about this tribe I’m sure). You can buy clothing, and dye them any colour you want. You can purchase your own home and get it decorated by a flamboyant construction worker who owns Bolson construction. Beautiful scenery. The Dragons are just gorgeous with a soothing theme to boot. You can collect their scales and horns to make amazing buffs that last 30 mins real time. Shrines help you gather orbs that help you get stamina and or hearts. The forgotten temple is one of my favourite areas. Kakariko village is another. Oh did I not mention the GUARDIANS? They are nightmare fuelled and parrying their beams is top tier excitement. The champions are captivating and their stories are not that long, but just long enough to give you the idea of who they are. The Divine beasts are interesting and nothing like a typical dungeon that you would see in Zelda games. Attack on Divine Beast Vah Naboris is hella fun with the Gerudo chief Riju (not without having to cross dress to even enter the all Vai aka female town called Gerudo Town, because Voe aka men are not allowed). You gain the champions abilities which I do feel are a bit over powered but they are absolutely useful and needed. You can spend more than 800 hours on this game. Tarrey Town gives you a sense of accomplishment especially once you’ve gathered enough people to populate the area and materials to help Hudson build the town. Everyone with a profession needs to have “son” in their name. That is apart of the Bolson Contract. You help a resident get married as well, you also attend the wedding which I think is just swell. From the Rito to the Gorons. NPCs have their own unique ways and personalities. So many Easter eggs and many side quests. I will say, dark beast ganon and the ganon fight as a whole, was quite underwhelming but nonetheless from start to finish this game has and continues to bring me a lot of joy. The sound track is amazing and it’s at the top with skyward sword. BoTW is Such a great game.
