Parts of this movie were really good and entertaining. My biggest complaint is the villain. I have no idea why they would chose a villain that so many people have phobias about. What makes that worse is that there is no indication in any of the trailers that bugs play a prominent role in the film. Had I known, I would never have tried to see it in a theater. Thankfully the villain sections are spread out and there is actually relatively little interaction between him and the rest of the cast, but I spent large sections of the movie unable to watch. This franchise is so appealing to such a wide array of audiences… so I have no idea why they decided to stray from that now. My phobia isn’t nearly as bad as some. I had to let my best friend know not to buy tickets. This would have traumatized her. I let my 9 year old know about the bugs and she’s decided she does not want to see this one. Normally I let her invite a couple friends to go see big movies like this one. I don’t think this was well thought out. Past villains were interesting and brought fun dynamics to the movies. Not the case here.
