I strongly disliked how they depicted the protagonist healing from the loss of her mother by dealing with a tragic event like a school shooting. What message does that send to viewers? That they must endure even more traumatic experiences to heal from their initial trauma? It's a very strange and misguided approach. The movie seemed like a B-grade film that glorified school shootings, a very real and serious issue in our country. Promoting responsible gun control doesn't mean there will be child heroes and minor casualties in school shootings. Most people simply want to live their lives without facing such horrors.
