I loved this show. I hope it continues to be available . I can see why there was such a backlash against it but Cancel culture is a dangerous thing. The show has excellent actors and the plot is really good also. Jung Hae-in is one of my all time favorite actors and he has shown such versatility, I fell in love with him in "Something In the Rain" and he has shown such a range of emotions and different types of roles. He's just an amazing actor. And I was much impressed with Jisoo in the lead female role .As far as the world seeing or perceiving oppressive government rule at the time, well, like most shows, unless they are documentaries, which this show makes no such claims, and if any of these types of government atrocities happened against their citizens, then bringing them to light should only serve to protect against that type of government in the future, in ANY county . I think we should enjoy it for the excellent and compelling storyline and actors, and maybe make people think. And if S. Korean government acted at all in this manner, then good for them for correcting the injustices and for the citizens for demanding fairer treatment.
