I want to give this three different ratings.
1.5/5 as a Dragon Age Game.
2.5/5 if it was an 18+ RPG not part of the DA franchise and a
3.5/5 if it were a YA action-adventure game with RPG elements, not part of the DA franchise.
The character creator is amazing, and the game is very easy to play. However, it's a far cry from previous installments, which were dark fantasy stories involving politics and religion which carried over from one game to the next.
The writing leaves a lot to be desired, and I hope you like the Valley girl accent, because you will hear it a lot.
I got bored halfway through as all the fights are the same, and the quests all follow the same pattern. Character arc? Never heard of her!
It's definitely a game you will play once and then forget about because there is nothing worth remembering. Although, if it's free, it's a nice distraction I guess.
There are plenty of legitimate criticisms of the game, but I do encourage you to play and find out for yourself instead of being swayed by other people's reviews. Take any 5 or 1 star reviews with a pinch of salt, as the game has both been review bombed and the target of toxic positivity.
I don't want to spoil anything here, so I haven't gone into detail. But trust me when I say that it's fun to play, but it could easily be titled Dragon Age: Avengers.
