I have mixed feelings about this one. I was a big fan of the first. I was waiting for this one with excitement. Let s start with what I liked: The art direction, the style, the character design, the aesthetic, all shouts 90s and I love it. While playing we can truly see a painting laying over our eyes. The addition of voice acting was truly welcome to give life to those characters. The game design is really perfect, the game is easy to learn, hard to master. Levels become more and more difficult but you do become better. Lati is the easiest character to play, and Hal the most difficult. The outfits you can unlock are really cool references to 90s movies. All characters truly feel different and levels are desgin for each of them by the gameplay, aesthetic and music. It s truly well crafted The bad parts: I got to say, i find the dialogues poorly written until the last chapter, and the voice acting of Vip3r and Hal are just annoying to my taste. But they became better by the end, but for most part I was kinda cringed listening to them (Bob and Lati were good though). The worst thing, cringiest, is the cinematics. I get it that it s suppose to be old school, but during dialogues it s just horrendous. I wish they used more of the characters designs drawn to make illustration of each emotions like in Hades. It would have been way easier on the eye. They have great illustrators, they would have done a great job with it. The oldschool 3D is really cool during the game from far away, but terrible for cinematics from up close. The story is okay, but the ending really fell flat. Once more, illustration would ve help to get us more involved. Conclusion: I loved it for the gameplay and the art, but some small things makes it just mid because it s not on the same standard than the good parts. It s a pitty, but I do want them to continue and evolve into something greater. Maybe some coop gameplay? It could even be a heist game with those mechanics. It has great potential, I wanna see those great developpers continue working on this title!
