Reading the reviews posted about this horrific series gave me hope for the future. As the reviewers before me mentioned, the acting was top notch, but the ending was infuriating and the series, as a whole, was poorly written.
When I saw Michelle Dockery at the end smile, I was ashamed to be female. I am a Paralegal and my husband is a lawyer. We could not believe how unethical and hypocritical Michelle Dockery's character was and the way she came out on top at the end was appalling. She was caring on an affair with a married man and lying about both her identity and the fact that she knew the man she was prosecuting was beyond belief. In one scene, Siena Miller even confronted "Holly Berry" about her ethics, but then put that fact aside to betray her husband and destroy the prime minister. The only characters that had a moral compass were the judge, the defense attorney and the jurors. I did like when the attorney/mentor/cheater that Michelle Dockery was having an affair with compared himself to the accused, but then they screwed that scene up by having him excuse her of her unethical behavior. I'm glad I didn't watch this series before the holiday season because it would have ruined my Christmas spirit.
