A simply amazing game. It sets a new bar for storytelling in games, delivering us with one of the most emotional and moving stories any game has in years. All the bad reviews on here are complaining about how it's not the old God of War, how Kratos has changed. I think it's for the better he's changed. His character is one filled with remorse and regret, someone trying to atone for the sins of a past life, trying to keep those he loves from making those same mistakes. Atreus can be annoying, yeah, but he's supposed to be at times. An immaculately written story is where the protagonists have flaws, you don't always like them, you shouldn't. Atreus is a child, trying to find his place in the world, trying to make his own mistakes, he's written like one.
We see Kratos, a man once consumed by rage explored to a depth never seen before. We see ehim not only as a Spartan or God of War, but as the broken man he truly is, while not conceeding on his stoicism. Simply put, it's immaculate. The gameplay is very similar to GOW2018, but it keeps you entertained. The story though, is what makes this game so great, what makes it stand out against GOW2018. If you're on the fence, I would say buy it, ultimately, I think it's a fulfilling experience that's worth it.
