This is a slow burner of a series but it’s worth the patience of the slow pace of the first two episodes as we dig under the skin of the characters. But be forewarned if you’re looking for Halloween slasher thrills, this isn’t that movie. Instead it’s a thoughtful meditation on religions, renewal and death in the guise of a horror series. Personally I think it’s masterfully done. Was expecting to catch an episode or two and ended up binge watching the whole series until 300 in the morning. If I have a complaint it’s that the first act could have been tightened up a bit and the finale has all the mayhem one might expect from a standard horror series it seemed more like a sop to fans of the horror genre than necessary. But those are quibbles. I’d definitely watch it again.
