A solid game and enjoyable the first time through. Slicing up necromorphs is fun as ever and the weapon customization is nice addition to the experience.
Still, this installment pales in comparison to its predecessors and the influence of EA is felt heavily in this game. They wanted to add a little more action to make the game more accessible to other players and the result feels like gears of war. The fights are too large-scale and our protagonist behaves more like a soldier than an engineer. I mean come on guys, soldiers dodge roll, space engineers most certainly do not.
The central story is interesting and feels loyal to dead space lore but the character interactions are painful to watch. The antagonist in particular is horrible and the only reason I cared to see him die was to not bear witness to his bad acting any longer.
