I am really disappointed by this adaptation- it strayed too far from the novel for my liking. I didn't feel emotionally connected to any characters. The book is electrifying. This Netflix interpretation doesn't capture the gothic element, the symbolism e.g. the rhododendrons, the foreboding, the catharsis- it doesn't engage as a psychological thriller should.
