I think this is the show that women in the mid 20s and up age range were missing. This show takes you into the world of all things romantic comedy. This show always stood true to allowing the title character to be her authentic self. There are several lines that you will catch in this show that take off. The title character will make references to what the standard of beauty as it pertains to the ideal of a woman. It was refreshing to see a woman of color change the conversation of dating, career and love.

I enjoyed the show for capturing the layers of the different characters. This is a show roughly about a group of friends that met in college, roughly in their early 30s. Seemingly, they all made a pact to move to London after college with the exception of one of the friends. The show examines the messy love lives and friendships that each friend goes through.

My thoughts on this show are all over the place. On the one hand I saw this show and I thought wow. The CW finally got it right. Then I went back and I started to think deeply and I realized that this show looked oddly familiar. This show is sort of a modern day re-telling of Beverly Hills 90210 with a stronger minority presence. Before I get beat over the head, think about some of the issues that the Bakers have in their home. Spencer's life is not the Beverly Hills 90210 remake but you can definitely compare him to Brandon Walsh. Brandon Walsh always tried to do right thing and so does Spencer. I can go on and on about the multiple character similarities within both of the shows but that would take away from this review. For the present, All American is an all around good show. There are moments where you can see that the writers were forced to remove their good work. There are moments in this show where everything overlaps and we sort of time jump from one situation to another without receiving a resolution on the previous issue. I give this show 4 stars because it is worth the time in watching but it could be better.

This show is the "that thing" that we were all missing in television. Usually when you watch a television show about young people it is told from the views of suburbia. On My Block gives you rawness and grit with a side of innocent young adult comedy. The absurdities of some of the situations in the show is what makes the show believable. The characters are all complex and yet simple in the same token. Watch this show all the way through the first time and then watch it again to take notes. You will thank me.
