The film devastatingly illustrates the ultimate fear that many women have in that when we are most vulnerable we can easily become prey. It’s something that separates the genders and while it doesn’t apply to all humans, it’s real. There were layers upon layers of story where the director could have focused but she only touched those briefly, as if to acknowledge that the other characters and aspects to Cassie’s life surely existed and in another narrative would have been important but the damage had been done. This is a film about a woman on her way out. Great film.
