Great show. Everyone should watch this. Some people criticise it for showing the Humboldt County Sherriffs Office to be the complete buffoons that they are, but making excuses for the police. Their defense of the Sherriffs Department is that they received multiple well informed tips and leads on a murder by a drug trafficker and grower right in their county, but that the sheriffs can't pursue the leads because it's "hearsay" The idioicracy here is that the police didn't pursue any leads at all, or even showed a remote interest in investigating the murder or stopping drug traffickers. You don't need a warrant to go try and talk to somebody, or bring in one of the informants for the private investigators. But the police refused to do even this, and a drug trafficking murderer walks free today for it.

Season 7 was made for a wider and more simple-minded audience.
