I’ve read every LOTR book including the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. This is a take on the story from Elves’ and others’ POV that gives a look into their experience. It provides potential motivations for some characters that play prominent roles in the LOTR series. Lots of people who like the books are upset because it’s not an original Tolkien tale. That’s fine. Everyone can have an opinion. It’s just my opinion that this show is incredible so far and the story gives an illuminating view of this world from another perspective. It’s beautiful from the acting to the imagery. But like the Boy-King of Corn said, “Not everyone has to like it to be the best. They just have to try it!”
