Movie fell flat. Although it appeals to the audience with an good cast and a cameo appearance by the voice actor of the video games, the movie it’s self is lack luster. It tries hard to give you the feel of Indian jones and national treasure it lacks the motivation throughout the movie. The main character (Tom Holland) is portrayed as a thief with a internal moral backbone but is constantly betrayed and put in bad positions by his companions. There is no reason why he should end up teaming up with the treasure hunter whom left his brother for dead and yet he still does. The lack of development of the characters and the constant backstabbing lead no desire to see where they end up next. It’s a every dog for himself and it leads to stupid illogical decisions. The movie tried to end on a good note but lacked the reason why the pair would team up with no friendship, no pending treasure hunt, no common ground or direction, nor the search for the brother “whom died” which was the only thing they shared. As they ride off into the sunset together they’re chased by a fellow companion whom betrayed them both and they seem to chuckle at the idea as if that person didn’t successfully double cross them twice before. The logic is thrown out the window of this one and leaves you wondering what the point of all that was if they failed in their goal and didn’t develop as people or develop a relationship. Looks like there’s a follow up movie pending but it’s unlikely to be made when the movie flops.
