If anyone looking for a fantastic book recommendation try Boy's Life by Robert McCammon. I've read a number of his books, and many have been very good, most notably Swan Song. For some reason I just never got around to this one. I'm glad I finally did. It's bursting with Americana, mystery, and the kind of magic you can only see through a child's eyes. Set in a deep south small town it makes me think that this might have been a story someone like Mark Twain would have written had he been alive at the dawn of the Civil Rights movement, Rock music, and shifting societal norm. McCammon paints each chapter beautifully and though it's a long one it doesn't feel that way. I'm surprised that this one was never adapted for the big screen. If you haven't read it, I promise this is one that will stick with you.
