Since True Beauty finished airing, I will rewrite my review and share my thoughts as an early webtoon reader. Spoiler Alert 🚨 At first I only wanted to watch True Beauty because of Cha Eunwoo because I loved watching the korean dramas he previously starred in. However this one wasn’t for me and I’m also speaking for others too. A lot of people are complaining about it in Tiktok. And also I’m team seojun before the kdrama. When I was watching true beauty, it was pretty good so far but Jukyung in the first episodes is very self-centered. I get that she is really insecure about her face, and her appearance. I am glad Jukyung’s character developed and decided to defend herself which is great. Suho is someone who rarely felt comfort and affection. He doesn’t have a good relationship with his dad in the beginning and he is also affected about Seyeon’s death. He is really clingy and possessive to Jukyung because he never felt the feeling of love and lost his loved ones. Seojun is a really thoughtful and loving guy. He really cares about Gowoon and his mother. Although he just wanted love and peace, he cared about Suho and Jukyung’s privacy and didn’t manipulate like Soojin did. He is always losing people he loved, they always come and go. That’s why he hugged Jukyung harder in episode 16 knowing it would be the last time to ever touch and feel the warmth before his debut. Soojin always felt like winning. She wanted everything, why is her mindset like this? It’s because her dad always abused and yelled at her school rank instead of how Soojin really feels. That’s why she manipulated and tricked Jukyung because she wanted to feel superior, she wanted to feel as if she was at the top. To be honest True Beauty wasn’t for me unfortunately but it had a nice backstory for each main character. Since I read the webtoon I was disappointed how many scenes were switched. Seojun was supposed to play the piano for Jukyung and put the bandaid on her, Jukyung’s first kiss with seojun etc. I suggest not watching further if you end up liking the second lead (Han Seojun) or else you will get hurt badly. tvN did not give Seojun a good ending, he was broken and shattered. I wished he fell in love with someone else in the end instead of going for Jukyung knowing that she was thinking of someone else when Seojun was spending time with her. I know love makes you crazy but please at least appreciate what seojun gave to you Jukyung. She did thank him but this is a drama after all anyways. Episode 16 was really rushed -I recommend My ID is Gangnam beauty-
