Any Hendrix is great Hendrix ! Half the album has a high quality demo feel to it in a way that you were cool enough to sit and listen in the studio and watch them jam and create. Of course the album contains several polished gems like Pali Gap and Midnight. I love the alternative takes of established songs throughout the catalog and with Hendrix diversified approach they are almost new songs unto themselves. Of course the title track South Saturn Delta gives us a glimpse of what might have been with Hendrix creating jazz music for the horn and guitar. I’m in awe of Eddie Kramer as always on how he can work his studio magic to keep the Voodoo Chile alive with this posthumous opus among other later compilations after this album like Valleys of Neptune, People Hell & Angels and Both Sides of the Sky.

Hendrix as the master guitar improviser never played the same song the same way and these songs are played very differently after each set or for the next day. The sound engineers are the unsung heroes as well that make this album sound so fresh into the 21st century as well. Love this album !
