First - all the reviews obsessing over "wokeness" and the horror of gays on their screen need to stop flaunting their bigotry on main. This show has bigger problems.
As a huge original Orphan Black fan, I was excited for this, even though the casting of Krystan Ritter made me worry. Unfortunately, the writing and pacing made it so dull I quite after two episodes. Even though it's 30 years in the future apparently a wanted woman can just walk around without being picked up on any digital surveillance for 2 years. Also fashion, phones, guns, and car design haven't changed at all. There's no real suspense. She casually brings her boyfriend back to the lab she escaped from with zero concern for being found there. Motivations are shallow at best, and a show like this requires an evil villian with conviction. Here the villian is maybe Kira - who seems tortured, guilty, and on the verge of a nervous breakdown from the start. Really disappointed.
Gonna rewatch Tatiana instead.
