I was so looking forward to this as I love a period drama. It’s see in Yorkshire where my daughter now lives. It had a strange beginning that got my interest and then it went downhill fast! The language didn’t seem to fit the period. It seemed to focus on vocabulary from today with so much swearing in it. It just was not following a script where the actors knew what to say next. I’ve since learned that it encourages the actors to speak freely in it without a script. That might. E ok for a play in 2023 not the 1700’s. I watched 45 minutes of the first part and had to give up. I rarely do this and was sad to do so. Sorry.

I went to see the film with 2 friends as I saw clips of it with Tom Hanks on the One Show. It does come with a warning! Take your tissues as this is a pretty sad story but beautifully acted by all those in it. It is a comedy as well as touching on suicide and mental health issues. I do hope this gets nominated for many film awards as it’s an amazing story, told sensitively and very relatable. Well done to the whole cast particularly Tom Hanks and his neighbour Mariana Trevino.
