I watched the original reruns on afternoon TV as a kid, and have watched the movies and series of the newer Treks with varying degrees of satisfaction. Some of them are great - some disappointing. Strange New Worlds has something that a lot of the others seem to be missing - the spirit of the original. I find Discovery deeply disappointing, due to every episode feeling like a therapy session. Strange New Worlds, on the other hand, feels like it is hitting all the right notes; no overwrought emotionality, great dialogue, and so far, true to Star Trek. I hope it stays the course...
